Kopron has created a first division sports centre for S.P.A.L. Ferrara
In Ferrara, the renovated “GB Fabbri” sports centre can be found, Headquarters of the S.P.A.L. sports organisation, designed and built entirely by KOPRON. The synergy between the Kopron Sport and Kopron Engineering divisions has resulted in the creation of a sports structure with a PVC tarp of approximately 1,000 sq.m. built instead of a previous synthetic training field. The new structure has created an area dedicated completely to the First Division team including a gym with equipment and floor exercises, a swimming pool for recovery following injuries, meeting rooms and a warehouse.
Following this initial fulfilment, the ball moved to the Engineering division, specialised in the turn-key constructions “build to suit”, or, “made to measure”. Skilled team work among engineers, Project Managers and professionals from the field resulted in the creation of a changing room area with steel structures and insulated sandwich panels. This structure, designed according to high standards of energy efficiency, is characterised by an important level of thermal-acoustic insulation, not only due to norm-related requirements but also to guarantee athletes comfort and pleasant liveability of spaces.
Kopron, the general contractor for construction of sports centres of excellence
Kopron Engineering is specialised in “turn-key” constructions of sports centres of excellence. During the last few years several football teams and other sports teams have contacted Kopron to update and built sports centres.
“The starting point for a General Contractor is always the final use of the building to be built. In this case the most important challenge was the development and sizing of the environments, considering the limited space available and town planning restrictions. The changing rooms were designed to host professionals from the world of football. It was all analysed in every possible detail: from the plants, with ad hoc dimensions for the team and its requirements, all of the internal finishes, where even the choice of the tiles was important. With the way we work the functionality of spaces cannot ignore the aesthetic quality of the finished building”, states Engineer Camillo Mastrolorenzo, the Technical Manager of the Kopron Engineering division.
The choice of introducing a General Contractor was a huge success in terms of respecting the times and costs agreed in the contract.

According to Andrea Gazzoli, General Manager of S.P.A.L.:
“Being able to count on the constant presence of Kopron Engineering as our sole partner has definitely simplified the construction process with a huge advantage in terms of minimum reduction in discomforts deriving from the need of players in having a fully working plant before the start of the championship. Having just one interface, who was able to understand our real needs right from the beginning, simplified our work so much”.
Even the footballers seem to be satisfied with the update of the centre. Andrea Petagna, a striker and new introduction to this season states:
“I really enjoy myself here and my objective is to take Spal to a high level. Also because here we have the ideal conditions to play football, Spal is a happy place. We now have a beautiful and magnificent structure, the “Paolo Mazza” stadium that has been renovated, a sports centre for the First Division. Spal, basically, has a beautiful future guaranteed”.
The renewed sports centre “GB Fabbri” S.P.A.L. in Ferrara is, therefore, the result of a study carried out by a specialised team that, thanks to consolidated know-how and experience in this field, has been able to combine flexibility and personalisation, transforming the needs and requirements of customers into technical performance of the building, without ever losing sight of times, costs and quality of the project.
